After serving in the United States Army, Ms. Pirtle obtained a B.S. in Biology with an endorsement in Physical Science from Mississippi Valley State University. Later, she obtained her M.S. in Public Health and Nutrition from Mississippi State University. She started teaching in Mississippi, then Tennessee, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, and back home again because home is where the heart is.
